Economic, Effective and Sustainable Development of Czech Military Capabilities

Vilém KOLÍN

The participation of Czech soldiers in operations and missions abroad, and thereby meeting national security objectives, requires adequate weapons, military equipment and related services. In the time of the deteriorating financial situation, ensuring the participation of Czech soldiers in operations and missions abroad is becoming more difficult. To meet the obligations to its allies and to achieve national security objectives, the Czech Republic has to find a way how to develop national military capabilities in a more economic, effective and sustainable way. The text formulates thirteen recommendations that serve as guidelines how to start this process, focusing on increasing the efficiency of the acquisition process and the use of offsets, strengthening national defence technological and industrial base and enhancing international co-operation.
